There are >TWO< ways to create batch files. You can use the DOS
"copy" command for short batch files. For longer files you will
want to use any word processor. We recommend EDLIN, which is in-
cluded with all versions of DOS, for this purpose. After you're
a little farther along with this TIMEMASTER BATCHLRN SYSTEM pro-
cess you can learn to use >>DOBATCH.BAT which is included in the
INFO sub-directory here. While there is a general tendency among
PC USERS to shy away from EDLIN---DON'T. >>Learn it and learn it
WELL! You will find it is quick and simple.Start with EDLIN.HLP.
Another tendency (we all have it) is to skip disk instructions,
going right into the "meat"! PLEASE DON'T WITH BATCHLRN! We have
prepared for you a step-by-step,logical, fully-tested method for
learning about batch file processing. Even if you know the first
few steps, read&do(it's worth spending time on as a r-e-v-i-e-w)!
We will cover each level of batch file processing, from the very
simple to the more complex. Many programs like this start with an
AUTOEXEC.BAT. WE DO NOT! We put that in the middle of this FIRST
part. INTRO (these pages) cover the basics---then we go to AUTO,
which covers AUTOexecute from simple to AUTOEXEC.BAT complicated.
You WILL KNOW how to make one as complex as you like!
